Project Introduction

Tribù is a Belgian manufacturer and distributor of exclusive modern outdoor furniture, exporting to more than 60 countries worldwide and belongs to the best in the industry. The company was set up by Lode De Cock in the early nineties and today two of his sons, Koen and Tom, are managing the company. Strengthened by its years of experience, this design house has grown to become an internationally acclaimed brand. Tribù works together with several top European designers and has many suppliers in Europe and in Asia (China and Indonesia). 

It is their mission to make people forget their daily stress while relaxing in one of their many exclusive pieces of design garden furniture. Every piece is a blend of quality, simplicity and modern elegance.

Involvement of Horsten International

Tribù contacted Horsten with the request for optimization of the logistic and financial flows, the possible incorporation of a HK company and/or a legal entity in China and assistance in the strategic decision-making process, taking into account legal, financial, strategic, logistic, operational, HR, commercial and other issues.

Horsten has given an explanation about the nature and requirements for the setting up of a Hong Kong limited company and a Chinese legal entity, as well as a brief investigation of the market potential in China and a competitor analysis. Followed by an exploration of the possible business model for Tribù and a comparison of the advantages, disavantages and budgets needed to execute these different scenarios. Strategic issues such as legal and HR issues, taxes, intellectual properties, analysis of the optimal legal structure and other strategic considerations were examined too.

Finally, some recommendations and conclusions were formulated, as well as the possible role and involvement of Horsten International into the implementation of the strategic decisions and the project in general.
