Project Introduction

Icosagen is an Estonian biotechnology company, set up in 1999 and providing high-quality recombinant proteins and discovering antibodies for diagnostic and therapeutic use. It is a research-driven contract research provider for biopharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. They have a worldwide reputation in the pharmaceutical industry, but not (yet) in the IVD (in vitro diagnostics) industry.

Icosagen provides a range of off-the-shelf products, such as antibodies, ELISA kits, etc., as well as quality control services in the fields of natural rubber, allergen testing and food quality control. Product application areas include: neurobiology, virology, cardiac markers, cytokines, inflammation, allergens, etc.

Involvement of Horsten International

With the help from Horsten, Icosagen has been collecting information about the Chinese IVD industry, investigating the opportunities and arranging meetings with potential customers and partners in China.

From mid-2022 onwards Horsten performed the following services to Icosagen:

• Analyze the general market situation of the IVD industry in China.
• Competitive analysis and screening of foreign and domestic players in China.
• Arrange meetings with different stakeholders.
• Research about the regulatory situation in China.
• Give general strategic advice and recommendations to Icosagen.
• Register the Icosagen trademark in China.
• Search for a suitable Chinese name and register this Chinese name as a trademark in China.
