75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China

On September 25, 2024, the Chinese Embassy in Belgium and the Chinese Mission to the European Union held a reception in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Chinese Ambassador to Belgium Fei Shengchao, Charge d’Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Mission to the EU Zhu Jing, and over 1000 guests including senior officials from the Belgian government and EU institutions and other sectors, diplomatic envoys, representatives of Chinese institutions and overseas Chinese attended the event.

In his speech, Ambassador Fei Shengchao elaborated on the achievements of China over the past 75 years and the resolution of the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on further deepening reforms comprehensively to pursue Chinese modernization. He also emphasized that China’s development will create more opportunities for Belgium and the wider world and add more certainty to peace and development of humanity.

He welcomes Belgian citizens and businesspeople to visit China, underlining that this is the only way to deepen the people-to-people exchange and friendship between the two countries. The extended visa-free policy for Belgian citizens and the numerous direct flight connections between Belgium and China are surely helping to make these exchanges much easier.

Ambassador Fei was appointed in June 2024 as the 16th Chinese Ambassador to Belgium. He is born in October 1973, holds a Master’s Degree of Law and is a member of the Communist Party of China. He succeeds Ambassador Cao Zhongming (曹忠明), who served as Ambassador to Belgium from September 2018 until February 2024.

Shortly after arriving in Belgium at the beginning of June, Ambassador Fei presented his credentials to King Philippe of Belgium.
