Project Introduction

SolarDuck is a Dutch company, founded in 2019 as a spin-off from Damen Shipyards, the largest shipbuilder in the Netherlands. SolarDuck generates offshore solar energy using its unique, state-of-the-art technology, which is fully scalable to match specific local requirements worldwide. SolarDuck’s technology can be deployed in wind-scarce, but sun-rich regions.

The SolarDuck mission is to accelerate the growth of offshore floating solar energy by deploying over 1 GW annually from 2030 onwards.

Involvement of Horsten International

Horsten’s involvement consisted in helping the customer with its sourcing of aluminum floaters from China. We provided them a short list of suppliers based on the criteria set by SolarDuck and conduct background checks on these different Chinese suppliers.
