Xi’an Thiebaut Foundation Ceremony

On 18 December 2023, Xi’an Thiebaut Pharmaceutical Packaging held a ceremony to celebrate the foundation laying of its new production site at Airport New City, a newly developed area in the Xixian New Area, an industrial zone located between Xi’an and Xianyang cities in Northwest China’s Shaanxi Province. The ceremony was attended by many high-level guests, including Mr. Zou Manxu, Chairman of the Shaanxi Pharmaceutical Holding Group, Mr. Xia Shunwei, former general manager and currently Chairman of Xi’an Thiebaut and Arne De Moortel, Representative of the Belgian shareholder TS Flanders and director of Xi’an Thiebaut. The ceremony was held in combination with the opening of the new state-of-the-art production facility of Xi’an Global Printing, Xi’an Thiebaut’s major Chinese shareholder.

Xi’an Thiebaut Pharmaceutical Packaging is a large Sino-Belgium joint venture, established in May 1999 with a total investment of RMB125 million by Global Printing Co., Ltd, Shaanxi Hanjiang Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. and TS Flanders of Belgium. TS Flanders is a holding company, with the Thiebaut family and Horsten International as its original shareholders. In 2021 the Capricorn Fusion China Fund acquired the shares of Horsten International in the joint venture.

As a renowned aluminium tube manufacturing expert at home and abroad, Xi’an Thiebaut currently owns 4 advanced aluminium tube production lines from Germany, and has accumulated more than 40 long-term customers, including Xi’an Janssen, CMS, Bayer Pharmaceuticals, L’Oreal, CR Sanjiu and other well-known Chinese and international pharmaceutical companies.

The Xi’an Thiebaut Pharmaceutical Packaging project at Xixian New Area plans to cover an area of about 40 acres, with a total construction area of about 25,000 square meters. It will build construction facilities including office buildings, production workshops, power centers, dangerous goods warehouses, and pump rooms. It is expected to achieve a production capacity which will largely extend the current annual volume of 200 million pieces of aluminum tubes, making it one of the biggest aluminum tube manufacturers in China.

Xia Shunwei, Chairman of Xi’an Thiebaut, said that the launch of this project is another example of the win-win cooperation between Airport New City, Shaanxi Pharmaceutical Group and Global Printing. Airport New City, as a national airport economic demonstration zone and the “new starting point of the Air Silk Road”, is a superior location which will help Xi’an Thiebaut to continue its growth, both domestically as well as abroad.
