Seminar 25 June 2018 - How to Set Up a Cross-Border E-Commerce Shop in WeChat to sell in China?

HORSTEN International, the EU SME Centre, VOKA – Chamber of Commerce Mechelen-Kempen, the Belgian-Chinese Chamber BCECC and BENCHAM organized a half-day seminar in Mechelen on 25 June 2018 about how to set up a WeChat shop and sell by cross-border e-commerce. Trainers at this seminar were Bart Horsten (Horsten International), Rafael Jimenez (EU SME Centre in Beijing) and Brian Goff (WeChat Expert of the EU SME Centre & Co-Founder of Emerald Green Consulting in Ireland).

After a welcome word by Petra Van Bouwelen, International Business Development Manager of VOKA, Bart Horsten introduced the e-commerce and social media landscape in China and the opportunities for European SMEs. Then Rafael Jimenez talked about the challenges of selling online in China, Chinese consumer expectations, WeChat’s unparalleled success in China, the upstream flow of goods to the Chinese Consumer and the downstream flow of payments to the EU Shop owner.

After the coffee break Brian Goff told the fascinating story of Emeral Green Baby and their endeavours to look for a way to succesfully sell their products directly to the Chinese consumers through WeChat. A lot of information was shared about the setting up and the building blocks of a WeChat shop, logistics, costs and additional O2O-opportunities.

25 companies participated to the workshop and gave very positive feedback.
